THE GRAVITY RACER
Put on your helmet, fasten your seatbelt and get on your soapbox. Are you ready and willing to hurtle down roads, tackle curves, and pick up momentum for the home stretch? That’s what composer Marc Jeanbourquin wanted to portray in « THE GRAVITY RACER ». After a fanfare introduction, the start is given and the soapboxes start to roll. The ostinatos set the rhythm of the piece. The theme will be omnipresent until the slow part of the piece, where the whole ensemble will be able to let its musical expression speak for itself, as if a competitor had stopped to take a break and admire the landscape. But the race resumes in the last part with a return to the ostinatos of the start, this time with the initial theme exposed in major. The piece will take the pilots through a final turn and then straight to the finish line.
Setzen Sie Ihren Helm auf, schnallen Sie sich an und steigen Sie in Ihre Seifenkiste. Sind Sie bereit, über Straßen zu rasen, Kurven zu nehmen und mit Schwung auf die Zielgerade zu fahren? Das ist es jedenfalls, was der Komponist Marc Jeanbourquin in « THE GRAVITY RACER » darstellen wollte. Nach einer fanfarenartigen Einleitung wird der Startschuss gegeben und die Seifenkisten setzen sich in Bewegung. Die Ostinatos geben den Rhythmus des Stücks vor. So wird das Thema bis zum langsamen Teil des Stücks allgegenwärtig sein, wo das gesamte Ensemble seinen musikalischen Ausdruck sprechen lassen kann, ein bisschen so, als hätte ein Teilnehmer angehalten, um eine Pause zu machen und die Landschaft zu bewundern. Doch das Rennen wird im letzten Teil mit einer Rückkehr der Ostinatos vom Start wieder aufgenommen, wobei dieses Mal das Anfangsthema in Dur exponiert wird. Das Stück bringt die Fahrer in eine letzte Kurve und dann geradewegs auf die Ziellinie zu.

Êtes-vous prêtes et prêts à dévaler des routes, attaquer des virages et reprendre votre élan pour la dernière ligne droite ? C’est en tout cas ce que le compositeur Marc Jeanbourquin a voulu dépeindre dans « THE GRAVITY RACER ». Après une introduction en fanfare, le départ est donné et les caisses à savons s’élancent. Les ostinatos donnent le rythme de la pièce. Le thème sera ainsi omniprésent jusqu’à la partie lente de l’œuvre, où tout l’ensemble pourra laisser parler son expression musicale, un peu comme si un concurrent s’était arrêté pour faire une pause et pour admirer le paysage. Mais la course reprend dans la dernière partie avec un retour des ostinatos du départ, avec cette fois-ci le thème initial exposé en majeur. La pièce amènera les pilotes dans un dernier virage puis tout droit vers la ligne d’arrivée..
