SYRIELLE
In 2009 Marc Jeanbourquin was a trombonist in the harmony orchestra ‘La Gerinia’ from Marly (Switzerland). To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the summer music camp of its music school, he was commissioned to write a musical fairy tale for the band. Marc Jeanbourquin was inspired by stories written by his wife Lise Jeanbourquin, and so Syrielle the story of a fairy who wanted to catch a star’, came into being. The theme of Syrielle is presented in the opening bars as a sequence of two chords, which convey the fairy like feeling of calm and mystery. She lives in a forest and is looking for friends. Then she comes across an ogre who also lives alone. When she sees him, she panics and hurts herself. The ogre takes her and cares for her, and the two end up becoming friends. One by one the themes for the two main characters are stated, and eventually evolve into a festive samba. At the end the theme from Syrielle returns, but this time in a major key, so to make a happy end to this musical fairy tale.
Marc Jeanbourquin spielte 2009 im Harmonieorchester ‘La Gérinia’ in Marly (CH). Zur Gegenheit vom 20. Sommerferienlager seiner Musikschule hat der Ausschuss ihn gefragt um ein musikalisches Märchen zu schreiben. Marc Jeanbourquin erhielt seine Inspiration aus den Texten, die seine Frau Lise Jeanbourquin geschrieben hatte und so entstand Syrielle, eine Fee, die die Sterne greifen wollte’. Das Thema von Syrielle wird ab den ersten Takten präsentiert auf eine Folge von zwei Akkorden, die eine feenhafte Gestalt darstellen, ruhig und mysteriös. Sie wohnt in einem Wald und ist auf der Suche nach Freunden. Dann begegnet sie einem Oger, der ganz allein ist. Als sie ihn sieht, gerät Syrielle in Panik und verletzt sich. Der Oger nimmt sie mit und versorgt sie, und dadurch werden sie Freunde und alles endet gut. Eins nach dem anderen werden die Themen der zwei Hauptpersonen präsentiert, um somit sich zum Schluss zu einer festlichen Samba zu entfalten. Am Ende kommt das Thema von Syrielle zurück, aber in Dur, um so dem musikalischen Märchen ein ‘Happy End’ zu gestalten.

Marc Jeanbourquin s’inspire du texte écrit par Lise Jeanbourquin. Ainsi naquit Syrielle, une fée qui voulait attraper les étoiles. Le thème de Syrielle est présenté dès les premières mesures sur en enchaînement de deux accords, présentant un personnage féérique, calme et mystérieux. Elle vit dans une forêt et cherche des amis. Arrive un ogre qui vivait seul. En le voyant, Syrielle prend peur et se blesse. L’ogre la recueille chez lui, la soigne. Ainsi, ils deviennent amis et tout se fini bien. Tour à tour, les thèmes des deux personnages sont présentés, pour se développer en une samba festive. Finalement on retrouve le thème de Syrielle, mais en majeur, ce qui conclut ce conte musical en « happy end ».
